One of my favorite groups of people to talk to is that of bankruptcy lawyers. There are a lot of bankruptcy lawyers in Phoenix because a lot of Phoenix residents have spending problems, which keeps many bankruptcy lawyers busy with many cases. Bankruptcy lawyers are fun group to hang out with because they have a great sense of humor and are always willing to go to see the latest movies. They always tell me about some of the clients whose cases they handle, and it seems like there are a lot of people in the Phoenix area who could use some counseling about spending. There are a lot of people who lose sight of what is realistic for their budget, and with long lines of credit granted to them, they just keep spending more and more money. Eventually this adds up and people are often unable to meet the minimum payments.
Something that a lot of my friends in Phoenix who are bankruptcy lawyers have noticed is that it is usually not just bad spending habits that cause Phoenix residents to need their services. An additional financially catastrophic event throws peoples finances completely out of their means and they then must seek outside financial help. Often, the only option left is to call bankruptcy lawyers to legally relieve them of responsibility for their debt. So, on the one hand, this situation could be alleviated by better personal spending habits, but on the other hand, an unexpected event is often the thing that is directly responsible for many people’s need for debt relief. In the future, people should be more careful about what they buy and make sure that is within their means. Additionally, people should get insurance so that they have a safety against possible unmanageable expenses.
